In Malawi we organise safaris in two vastly different areas that complement each other perfectly and can easily and profitably be combined with time spent on the Lake or in Zambia’s nearby South Luangwa.
In the south of the country lies Malawi’s premier big game viewing destination, Liwonde National Park, here we use either the luxurious Mvuu Wilderness Lodge or the nearby and slightly larger Mvuu Camp. Both are sensitively constructed tented camps located in a prime position within the park overlooking the impressive Shire River. Each offers the same activities in search of big game such as elephant, buffalo, hippo, sable and even rare black rhino.
In the north of the country lies the unique Nyika National Park, a spectacular high altitude plateau teeming with game such as eland, roan, zebra and reedbuck. Here we use the luxurious Chelinda Lodge, an African log cabin construction that provides warm and comfortable shelter against the night time mist and chill of the plateau and creates a great evening atmosphere around the fire or dinner table.
